# How to connect

> How to connect the Instagram Organic data source to Adriel: authorize an Instagram Business account, select the account, and verify data.

Instagram Organic imports account-level and post-level performance for a connected Instagram Business or Professional account through the Meta Graph API. Connecting it brings feed posts, reels, and — under one login mode — stories into Adriel dashboards, alongside lifetime account signals such as follower count, profile views, and audience demographics.

<Warning>
  The v1 Instagram Organic connector is deprecated. New connections use the v2 variant described here. Existing v1 widgets continue to function, but the connector is hidden from new-connection flows.
</Warning>

## Before you connect

The following are required:

* An Instagram Business or Professional account. Personal and creator accounts without business tools are not supported by the Meta API.
* An Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page, with the **Admin** role on that Page.
* Permission to authorize third-party apps for the Instagram or Facebook account.
* For story sync: Page administrator access with two-factor authentication enabled.

Two login modes are available. Facebook Login authorizes through a Facebook Page that has a linked Instagram Business or Professional account, and supports the full metric set including stories and reposts. Instagram Login authorizes the Instagram account directly, with a narrower metric set and no story sync.

## Connect Instagram Organic

<Steps>
  <Step title="Authorize access to the Instagram account">
    On the **Data Sources** page, search for **Instagram Organic** and select it. The flow redirects to Facebook Page settings. Click **Continue as \[account name]** when the prompted account is the one to connect, choose the Business account(s) and Page(s) to connect (clicking **Next** at each step), grant all requested permissions, and click **Done**, then **OK** to return to the dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the login mode">
    Choose **Facebook Login** when the Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page and story sync or reposts are needed. Otherwise choose **Instagram Login**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the Instagram account">
    On the data source settings, choose the Instagram account to connect. The list can contain one or several accounts depending on the connected Facebook Page. Under Facebook Login, confirm the story webhook subscription when prompted (requires Page admin access and 2FA).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit">
    Click **Submit** to complete the connection. The initial sync runs in the background — data can take up to one business day to appear.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What gets imported

The connector imports account-level, post-level, and reel-level metrics at daily granularity, alongside lifetime follower counts and audience demographics. Story metrics import under Facebook Login only. Field availability varies by breakdown: post breakdowns exclude post delta metrics, and demographic breakdowns return only lifetime follower counts per bucket.

For the complete list of metrics, breakdowns, and limits, see the [Instagram Organic data reference](/data-sources/g-n/instagram-organic/data-reference).
