> Common questions, expected behaviors, and troubleshooting for the LinkedIn Organic data source.

Answers to common questions and expected behaviors for the LinkedIn Organic data source.

## Why can't I connect my personal LinkedIn profile?

LinkedIn Organic reports on a LinkedIn Company Page, not a personal profile. Personal profile metrics are not exposed by this connector.

Connecting also requires an **Administrator** role on the Company Page being added. Pages where the signed-in LinkedIn account only has a lower role will not appear in the page-selection list during setup. For the full connection flow, see [How to connect LinkedIn Organic to Adriel](/data-sources/g-n/linkedin-organic/how-to-connect).

For paid LinkedIn campaign reporting, use the separate [LinkedIn Ads](/data-sources/g-n/linkedin-ads/data-reference) data source.

## Why is there no historical follower data from before I connected?

Follower and audience figures have no historical backfill. LinkedIn's API returns only the current follower snapshot, so Adriel records one snapshot per day and builds the follower history forward from the connection date. Days before the data source was connected have no follower values and cannot be reconstructed.

Post and page performance behave differently: an initial import window is retrieved at connection, and because Adriel caches the data, the longer the data source stays connected, the more history accumulates. The exact import windows are listed in the [LinkedIn Organic data reference](/data-sources/g-n/linkedin-organic/data-reference).

## Why don't follower demographics show up for my small Company Page?

The follower breakdown this connector surfaces is **Country (followers)**, which groups the page's followers by country. LinkedIn only returns a demographic bucket when it is large enough to protect member privacy, so a small Company Page will see empty country rows for less common locations until those audiences grow.

Two things help the breakdown return data:

* The **Country (followers)** breakdown must be used alongside the lifetime follower count metric in the same widget. On its own, the breakdown returns nothing.
* A larger follower base fills more country buckets, since LinkedIn withholds low-count segments.

The full set of available breakdowns is documented in the [LinkedIn Organic data reference](/data-sources/g-n/linkedin-organic/data-reference).

## Why did an old post stop updating?

Period values for very old posts (roughly 3 years or older) and for posts that became unretrievable — deleted, or restricted by the platform — are no longer recorded, so those posts stop accruing new day-over-day changes. Their lifetime totals remain as last captured.

Attached media can also expire: when a post's image or video is no longer accessible through LinkedIn's API, the stored media link may stop resolving even though the post's metrics are intact.

## Why don't my post period totals add up to the lifetime value?

Each post metric comes in two forms. The **lifetime** value is cumulative since the post was published. The **period** value is the change within the selected reporting range, derived from the daily snapshots Adriel caches from the connection date forward.

For posts published before the data source was connected, there is no earlier snapshot to compare against, so the first recorded period change is zero rather than the post's full pre-connection history. As a result, summing period values across a range will not match the lifetime total for posts that predate the connection. Lifetime and period metrics answer different questions and are expected to differ. See the [LinkedIn Organic data reference](/data-sources/g-n/linkedin-organic/data-reference) for which metrics offer each variant.

## Common issues

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="Why does a LinkedIn Organic Page not return data even after connecting?">
LinkedIn Organic depends on the specific OAuth user having access to the LinkedIn Page. The connected user may be different from the one the reporter has in mind, and if that user doesn't have permission on the Page, the data source can't fetch data.

Verify which user is connected via OAuth, then reconnect using a user who has confirmed Page access.
