# How to connect

> How to connect the SE Ranking data source to Adriel: enter an API key, then select a site and a search engine.

SE Ranking is an SEO platform for tracking organic keyword positions, search volume, and competitor movement. Connecting it brings daily keyword-position data for a tracked site on a specific search engine into Adriel dashboards, refreshed twice a day.

## Before you connect

The following are required:

* An SE Ranking account with a tracked site and keyword project already set up.
* The SE Ranking **API key** for that account, available in the SE Ranking account settings under API access.

## Connect SE Ranking

    On the **Data Sources** page, search for **SE Ranking** and select it. Enter the SE Ranking **API Key** to authenticate the connection.

  <Step title="Select the site">
    Choose a **Site** from the dropdown list. The dropdown lists the sites tracked in the SE Ranking account tied to the API key.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the engine">
    Choose an **Engine** from the dropdown list. The dropdown lists the search engines available for the selected site.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit">
    Click **Submit** to complete the connection. The initial sync retrieves historic daily data in the background.

    <Note>
      One data source is one site with one engine. To connect more sites or engines, repeat this process and create one Adriel data source per site + engine combination.

## What gets imported

The connector imports daily keyword-position data for the selected site on the selected search engine, including position, position change, crawl depth, estimated CPC, and monthly search volume per tracked keyword. Historic data going back 180 days is retrieved at connection time, and the rolling window is refreshed twice daily.
