# FAQs

> Common questions, expected behaviors, and troubleshooting for the Snapchat data source.

## Why is my Snapchat reach higher than expected over a long date range?

Reach and other uniqueness-based metrics can be overvalued when a widget covers a date period longer than a single day. Snapchat reporting computes uniqueness per daily snapshot rather than across the full range, so summing several days can count the same user more than once. For an accurate unique count, view reach one day at a time, or treat multi-day reach as an upper bound rather than a deduplicated total. Metrics that are simple sums, such as impressions, spend, and swipes, are not affected.

## Why don't some metrics appear when I add an age, gender, or country breakdown?

Snapchat accepts only one segmentation breakdown per query, and a set of metrics cannot be requested alongside a segmentation breakdown. The segmentation breakdowns are age, gender, location, device target, country, and DMA region, and only one can be active at a time. When any of them is applied, Snapchat rejects certain fields, so the connector removes them from the request. The affected metrics include total reach, earned reach, earned impressions, profile clicks, native leads, the 15-second and time-based video views, and the average and total view-time metrics.

To see those metrics, remove the segmentation breakdown and report against the standard campaign, ad squad, or ad hierarchy instead. The full segmentation behavior is documented in the [Snapchat data reference](/data-sources/o-z/snapchat/data-reference).

## Why can't I see ad-account-level rows in my Snapchat report?

Snapchat report data is not available at the ad-account level. Report requests made at the ad-account level are served at the campaign level, and ad-account figures are produced by aggregating the campaign rows beneath them. As a result, a dedicated ad-account report row is not returned. To break performance down, use the campaign, ad squad, or ad hierarchy, and rely on a single-row (no grouping) view when an account-wide total is needed.

## Why didn't my custom conversion event show up?

Conversion events tracked on the Snapchat ad account are imported automatically, but each one appears on the dashboard only once its underlying event is active in the account. A newly created event that has not yet recorded activity will not surface until it starts registering conversions. For every imported event, the connector also derives conversion rate, cost per action, and return-on-ad-spend metrics, which populate once the base event has data. If an expected event still does not appear after it has recorded activity and the date range covers that activity, the [data reference](/data-sources/o-z/snapchat/data-reference) lists the conversion metrics the connector surfaces.

## Why does Snapchat CTR look like a swipe rate?

On Snapchat, the primary click action is the swipe-up. The connector maps swipe-ups to both Clicks (all) and Link clicks, so click-through rate is effectively a swipe-through rate. Cost-per-click metrics follow the same mapping. This is expected behavior and keeps Snapchat comparable with other data sources on the same dashboard, where click-based metrics line up against swipe-based activity.

## How do I change the attribution window for Snapchat conversions?

Attribution windows are chosen when the data source is created and then apply to all attributed conversion metrics. Snapchat offers a swipe-up (click) window and a separate view-through window, each with its own set of durations. Because the setting is fixed at connection time, changing it means reconnecting the data source with the new window. The available windows and their durations are listed in the [Snapchat data reference](/data-sources/o-z/snapchat/data-reference).
