# How to connect

> How to connect the Yahoo! Japan Display Ads data source to Adriel: authorize through Yahoo Biz-OAuth, select an ad account, and import display campaigns and creatives.

Yahoo! Japan Display Ads is the display surface of Yahoo! Japan's advertising platform, serving image, video, and responsive display creative across Yahoo! Japan properties and partner sites. Connecting it brings ad accounts, campaigns, ad groups, and ads into Adriel dashboards alongside daily performance, video and viewability metrics, and the image and video creatives themselves.

## Before you connect

The following are required:

* A Yahoo! Japan Business account with access to Yahoo! Japan Ads.
* A Yahoo! Japan Display Ads account with API access enabled.
* Manager account access, where the ad account is mediated through an agency.

This connector covers Yahoo! Japan only and is distinct from Yahoo (US/global) display advertising, which is a separate platform with a separate API. Yahoo! Japan Display Ads and Yahoo! Japan Search Ads share a single Biz-OAuth authorization but are configured as separate data sources.

## Connect Yahoo! Japan Display Ads

    On the **Data Sources** page, search for **Yahoo! Japan Display Ads** and select it.

  <Step title="Authorize through Yahoo Biz-OAuth">
    Click **Connect** to be redirected to Yahoo! Japan's Biz-OAuth screen. Sign in with Yahoo! Japan Business credentials and approve the requested `yahooads` scope.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the ad account">
    Choose the ad account to ingest from the list of accounts visible to the authorized user. Select the parent manager account first if access is mediated through an agency.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the connection">
    Click **Save** to begin the connection. The initial sync of historical performance and creative assets runs in the background.

## What gets imported

The connector imports the full campaign hierarchy (ad account → campaign → ad group → ad) and daily performance metrics. Display-specific coverage includes video performance, viewability, and conversion-category metrics, plus image and video creatives downloaded during the sync so creatives appear alongside their metrics. Available breakdowns include device, age, gender, region, location, and site (campaign and ad-set level only).

## Troubleshooting

    The Yahoo! Japan display API does not expose country-level geographic reports for display campaigns. Use the **region** or **location** breakdown for sub-Japan geographic insight instead.

  <Accordion title="Site breakdown fails at ad level">
    Site (publisher) breakdown is supported at campaign and ad-set level only. Requesting it at ad level is rejected by the Yahoo! Japan API with `INVALID_DIMENSIONS_METRICS_COMBINATION`. Move the breakdown up to ad-set or campaign level.

  <Accordion title="Search-only metrics are missing">
    Impression share, search rank lost, and budget lost are search-specific fields and are not available on display. For search performance, connect the **Yahoo! Japan Search Ads** data source separately.
