# How to connect

> How to connect the Yahoo! Japan Search Ads data source to Adriel: authorize through Yahoo Japan Biz-OAuth, select an ad account, and verify data.

Yahoo! Japan Search Ads is the keyword search advertising platform operated by LY Corporation, the company behind Yahoo Japan. Connecting it brings campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords into Adriel dashboards alongside daily performance and search-specific metrics such as impression share, search rank lost, and exact-match impression share. This data source covers Yahoo Japan only and is distinct from Yahoo Ads (US/global), which uses a different API and authorization model.

## Before you connect

The following are required:

* A Yahoo Japan Business account with access to Yahoo Japan Ads.
* A Yahoo Japan Search Ads account with API access enabled.
* Manager account access, where the ad account is mediated through an agency.

## What gets imported

The connector imports the full campaign hierarchy (ad account, campaign, ad group, ad, keyword) and daily performance metrics in JPY. Search-specific metrics include impression share, search rank lost, exact-match impression share, search top impression share, and budget-lost impression share. Available breakdowns include campaign, ad group, ad, keyword, search term view, device, country, and location.

For the complete list of metrics, breakdowns, and limits, see the [Yahoo! Japan Search Ads data reference](/data-sources/o-z/yahoo-japan-search-ads/data-reference).

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The initial sync takes several minutes">
    Yahoo Japan reports are prepared on Yahoo's side before the results are returned, so the first backfill takes noticeably longer than a synchronous source. This is most pronounced during the initial ingest. Later syncs are quicker.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The same metric appears under two names">
    Some metrics are listed under two names in the metric picker to preserve backwards compatibility. Both names reference the same underlying data, so either one can be selected.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The authorization prompt covers both Search and Display">
    Yahoo Japan Search Ads and Yahoo Japan Display Ads share a single Biz-OAuth application. Reconnecting one platform may trigger a combined consent prompt at Yahoo Japan.
