Date ranges

Date ranges control the reporting window — which time period the widgets query. Every dashboard has a date range, and every widget can override it independently.

Two levels

• Dashboard date range — set once on the dashboard header, applied to every widget by default.
• Widget-level Period — set on an individual widget, replaces the dashboard date range for that widget only.

When a widget’s Period is set, the dashboard date range is completely ignored for that widget. This is an override, not a combination. By default, a widget’s Period is disabled, so the widget inherits the dashboard’s date range.

Presets

Both the dashboard-level date picker and the widget-level Period picker offer the same set of presets:

• Today
• Yesterday
• Last 7 Days
• Last 14 Days
• Last 30 Days
• Last 1 Year
• Last 2 Years
• Last week (Start: Mon)
• Last week (Start: Sun)
• Last month
• Last quarter
• Week to date
• Month to date
• Year to date
• This week (Start:Mon)
• This week (Start:Sun)
• This month
• This quarter
• This year

Pick a preset from the dropdown to switch the range. The picker highlights the current selection.

Custom range

Beyond the presets, the date picker offers two custom modes:

• Custom range — pick a start and end date on the dual calendar. Useful for a specific reporting period.
• Advanced settings — express start and end using relative expressions. Useful for a rolling window that stays anchored to today.

Advanced settings

The Advanced settings mode lets a rolling window be defined precisely.

• Start date column — three controls that combine into one expression:
  • Relative to today — the anchor mode.
  • Past or Future — direction from today.
  • Number + Day / Week / Month / Year — how far.
  For example, Relative to today + Past + 7 + Day = 7 days before today.
• End date column — same three controls, applied to the end of the window. For example, Relative to today + Past + 1 + Day = yesterday.

A Selected Range preview at the bottom of the dialog shows the computed start date, end date, and duration in days. Click Confirm to apply, or Cancel to discard.

Exclude today

A checkbox at the top of the date picker modal excludes today’s partial day from the selected range. This is always available regardless of preset — enable it when today’s incomplete numbers would skew the comparison, for example, when the dashboard is set to Last 7 Days early in the morning.

Widget-level Period

Open a widget’s settings panel and enable Period to set a widget-specific date range. When enabled, the widget uses this range and ignores the dashboard-level range. Common uses:

• Rolling last 7 days on a KPI tile — keep the rest of the dashboard on Month to date, but let the KPI tile always show the last 7 days.
• Year-over-year comparison — pair two widgets, one for this year and one for last year, so both stay locked to their respective ranges regardless of what the dashboard is set to.
• Point-in-time widget — freeze a widget on a specific date range that shouldn’t change when the dashboard’s global range does.

Widgets with Period enabled show their own date range in the widget subheader.

Comparison mode

Comparison mode adds a secondary date range whose values render alongside the primary window, along with a delta or percentage change.

Enable comparison

Comparison is always available on the date picker modal, regardless of the preset selected. In the top-right of the modal, click the Compare toggle to turn it on. When on, a second date range appears with the following options:

• Previous period — the equivalent window immediately before the primary. For example, primary = Last 7 Days → comparison = the 7 days before that.
• Month over month, Quarter over quarter, Year over year — shift the primary window by a month, quarter, or year.
• Custom pick — a specific comparison range.

Comparison at the dashboard level applies to every supported widget by default. Comparison at a widget’s Period picker overrides the dashboard’s comparison for that widget.

Which widgets support comparison

Not all widgets render comparison values. Supported widgets:

• Ads Table and Generic Table — render a comparison delta when the widget’s comparison-by-date setting is on.
• Overview widget — renders comparison for each child metric tile.
• Single metric — renders comparison inline with the primary value.
• Column chart, Horizontal column chart, Line chart — render a comparison series when the chart uses a date-based breakdown (for example, by day, week, month, quarter, or year).

Widgets not listed above don’t render comparison values, even when the dashboard-level Compare toggle is on.
