Why do my campaign and ad set numbers look identical?
LinkedIn has no native ad set entity. Both the campaign level and the ad set level resolve to the same LinkedIn campaigns, so identical figures at the two levels are expected behavior, not a bug. To report at a finer granularity, drill into the ad level or apply an audience breakdown. See the LinkedIn Ads data reference for the full hierarchy. Why did my LinkedIn Ads data source fail to create right after I connected it?
After authorization, LinkedIn can take up to about a minute to activate a newly issued access token. The connector retries the initial account lookup automatically during that window, but if LinkedIn stays unresponsive past it, data source creation can fail. Retrying the connection a short time later usually succeeds, because the token is active by then. Why does my company breakdown show a code instead of a company name?
The company breakdown resolves each company’s display name through LinkedIn’s organization lookup, which LinkedIn restricts to organizations the connecting account is a member of. Companies outside that access fall back to their raw LinkedIn identifier (a URN) as the label. Values that LinkedIn returns as empty appear as “Unknown”. The data itself is still correct; only the label differs. Why does filtering by more than 20 campaigns return account-level data?
The data source filter has a cap of 20 items. When more than 20 campaigns, campaign groups, or creatives are selected, LinkedIn cannot apply the filter, so the filter is dropped and account-level (unfiltered) data is returned instead. To report on more than 20 items at once, remove the filter and add a breakdown (for example, Campaign) so each item appears as its own row.How do I break down by two audience segments at the same time?
LinkedIn allows a maximum of two breakdowns per query, and one of those is the reporting level. In practice that means one detail breakdown (such as Industry, Seniority, or Job function) can be combined with a level breakdown, but two detail breakdowns together are rejected by LinkedIn. Two other limits apply: a detail breakdown cannot be queried at the ad level, and conversion metrics are not returned when a detail breakdown is present. To combine audience segments with conversions, report the conversions in a separate widget without the detail breakdown. Why is Adriel asking me to reconnect LinkedIn?
LinkedIn access tokens expire periodically, and an expired token has to be re-authorized before data can refresh. When this happens, re-authorize the data source from the connections list to restore the connection. For the paired setup flow, see How to connect LinkedIn Ads to Adriel.Common issues
Why do LinkedIn totals not match, why is campaign naming inconsistent, or why did historical LinkedIn data disappear?
Why do LinkedIn totals not match, why is campaign naming inconsistent, or why did historical LinkedIn data disappear?
LinkedIn Ads is a fetch-only channel — values are returned live by the LinkedIn API rather than aggregated from Adriel’s cache. LinkedIn itself returns approximate values that can differ between period-split queries and a single full-period query, so sums of split periods may not match the full period. Two per-data-source behaviors to be aware of:
- The LinkedIn Campaign Group Mapping flag remaps LinkedIn’s hierarchy so
campaign= LinkedIn campaign group andadset= LinkedIn campaign. After enabling the flag and re-collecting data, only the campaign name displays. - Deleting and recreating a LinkedIn data source resets all cached historical data. Delta metrics only exist from the new connection date onward, so widgets set to earlier ranges show nothing. Recovery requires manual cache restoration by Adriel support.
Why do LinkedIn Document Ads render empty or why do two identical LinkedIn conversion metrics appear?
Why do LinkedIn Document Ads render empty or why do two identical LinkedIn conversion metrics appear?
Two LinkedIn-specific quirks:
- LinkedIn Document Ads use a PDF document as the creative asset rather than an image, video, or carousel. Adriel’s creative widgets don’t currently render PDF or document creatives, so those ads show empty. Preview support is on the roadmap but de-prioritized.
- If two LinkedIn conversion metrics with identical names appear, check for a trailing blank space on a user-created LinkedIn custom conversion — LinkedIn treats it as a distinct conversion but both display the same in Adriel. Removing the trailing space in LinkedIn resolves the duplicate.
