Before you connect
The following are required:- A Salesforce account with API access enabled. This is available on most Enterprise, Unlimited, and Performance editions; Professional edition may require an add-on.
- Permission to authorize third-party apps in the Salesforce org.
- A Salesforce report prepared for connection. The connector mirrors the selected report exactly, so confirm in Salesforce that the report renders correctly before connecting.
Report format
Salesforce reports are built in one of three formats: Tabular, Summary, or Matrix. Use a tabular report. Tabular reports return flat rows with no grouping structure, so the export contains only the data. Summary and matrix reports can be connected, but Salesforce’s API provides no way to read their raw data separately from the report metadata that surrounds it — report headers, grouping labels, subtotals, and grand totals arrive mixed in with the rows. Adriel strips those rows where it can, but the cleanup is not reliable for every report layout.Connect Salesforce Reporting
1
Authorize a Salesforce account
On the Data Sources page, search for Salesforce Reporting and select it. Sign in to Salesforce in the pop-up using an account with access to the target report, then approve the requested OAuth scopes (read access to reports, objects, and metadata).
2
Select the report
On the data source settings, choose the Report to connect. Reports are listed as Folder / Report name. Only one report can be connected per data source — to connect more than one report, repeat these steps after the first connection is complete.
3
Submit
Click Submit to complete the connection. Initial data availability can take up to one business day.
What gets imported
The connector mirrors the selected Salesforce report exactly — the same columns and rows visible in Salesforce. Data reflects the current report configuration and refreshes daily, so editing the report in Salesforce changes the imported data accordingly. Report metadata rows in summary and matrix reports are imported as data whenever the cleanup cannot identify them, which is why a tabular report produces the most accurate data source. See Report format. For field handling, refresh cadence, and limits, see the Salesforce Reporting data reference.Troubleshooting
A large report is missing rows
A large report is missing rows
Reports are capped at 100,000 rows. For larger reports, split the data into multiple reports using field or date filters and connect each one as a separate data source. If the report is well under the cap, the report format is the more likely cause. Summary and matrix reports are exported with metadata rows wrapped around the data, and the cleanup that removes them can trim legitimate rows when the layout differs from the expected one. Rebuild the report in Tabular format and reconnect.
Totals or subtotals appear as extra rows
Totals or subtotals appear as extra rows
Disable totals and subtotals in the Salesforce report before connecting. When left enabled, they are included as rows in the imported data.Summary and matrix reports place subtotal rows between the data rows, not only at the end, and those rows cannot be reliably identified during import. Rebuild the report in Tabular format, which has no grouping and therefore no subtotal rows.
Rows are duplicated, or dates are missing from the imported data
Rows are duplicated, or dates are missing from the imported data
Subtotal and grand-total rows carry no date value. Imported alongside the real rows, they appear as records with an empty date and count their group’s figures a second time, so totals in a widget run higher than the same report in Salesforce. Rebuild the report in Tabular format and reconnect. These rows cannot be filtered out on the Adriel side.
Grouped columns show missing values
Grouped columns show missing values
Avoid grouping in the Salesforce report. Grouping can cause missing values in the grouped columns. Grouping is only available in summary and matrix reports, so rebuilding the report in Tabular format removes it entirely.
Data does not match Salesforce, or the report changes unexpectedly
Data does not match Salesforce, or the report changes unexpectedly
The connector mirrors whatever the report currently contains, so any edit in Salesforce is reflected on the next refresh. For frequently edited reports, create a dedicated report for the connector so changes are isolated. Verify the report renders correctly in Salesforce before connecting.
