Why is my ad account total built up from campaigns?
SmartNews does not provide reports at the ad-account level. To keep ad-account totals available in dashboards, Adriel queries at the campaign level and aggregates the results up to the ad account. The ad-account row therefore reflects the sum of its campaigns rather than a figure returned directly by SmartNews. One consequence: when a widget is filtered to detail-level breakdowns such as age or gender, the campaign-to-account aggregation cannot be applied, so an ad-account-level total may not be available for those specific breakdowns. Reporting at the campaign level or lower returns the data in those cases.Which conversion events are available?
SmartNews conversion metrics are generated per conversion event. For each supported event, three metrics are produced: a conversion count, a conversion rate (CVR), and a cost per action (CPA). The supported events are:purchaseadd_to_cartinitiate_checkoutsubmit_formcomplete_registrationsign_upview_contentinstalld1_retentionlead
Why are reach and frequency sometimes blank?
Reach (unique users who saw the ads) and frequency (average impressions per reached user) are only produced from SmartNews report data. They are not derived metrics, so they appear only where SmartNews returns them for the requested level and breakdown. Reach is also a unique-user count, which is not additive across entities the way impressions or clicks are. Because ad-account totals are aggregated from campaigns, a reach or frequency value may be blank at the aggregated ad-account level even when it is present at the campaign, ad group, or ad level. Reporting at a lower level is the reliable way to read these two metrics. Why don’t ad groups show a budget?
Budget figures — daily budget and lifetime budget — are read from campaign-level configuration only. Ad-group budgets are not currently provided by the connector, so a budget metric placed on an ad-group breakdown returns no value. To report on configured budgets, group by campaign. Why don’t SmartNews spend numbers match the platform exactly?
Spend and other currency values are reported in each ad account’s configured currency. When that currency differs from the workspace currency, values are converted using the current day’s exchange rate. Because the rate is applied at read time, a converted figure can differ slightly from what the SmartNews interface shows in the account’s native currency, and the same report can shift as exchange rates move. To compare against SmartNews directly, view the data in the ad account’s own currency. For newly made changes in SmartNews, note that updates are not immediate — they appear after the next sync.
