This article covers expected behaviors and common questions for the Spotify Ads data source.

Why can’t I break Spotify data down by country, age, or device?

Spotify Ads exposes only structural and time-based breakdowns in Adriel. Reports can be grouped by level — ad account, campaign, ad set, and ad — and by date, using breakdowns such as Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly. Demographic, geographic, and placement breakdowns — such as country, region, age, or device — are not available for this connector. Widgets built for other sources that rely on those breakdowns will not return grouped rows for Spotify Ads. For the full list of what is available, see the Spotify Ads data reference.

Why is my weekly or monthly Spotify data the same as adding up the days?

Spotify provides performance data at daily granularity only. Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly views are built in Adriel by summing the underlying daily rows for the selected period. Because each period is an exact roll-up of its days, a weekly or monthly total will always equal the sum of the days it contains. This is expected, not a discrepancy. For metrics that are ratios or averages — such as frequency or a cost-per metric — the value is recomputed from the summed components rather than averaged across days.

Why do very wide Spotify date ranges take longer to load?

Spotify limits how long a single reporting range can be. To stay within that limit, Adriel splits a wide date range into smaller windows, requests each one, and merges the results before the widget renders. The more windows a range spans, the more requests are needed, so a multi-year range takes longer to load than a short one. The data returned is complete — only the load time is affected. Per-breakdown look-back limits (for example, up to 93 days for Daily) are listed in the Spotify Ads data reference.

Why do Video views and Video impressions show the same number?

For Spotify Ads, Video views and Video impressions report the same underlying event — the number of times a video creative began playing. Both metrics are provided so that widgets standardized on either name resolve correctly across sources. Seeing identical values for the two is expected. To measure how far viewers watched, use the quartile metrics instead: Video played to 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.

Why don’t my Spotify costs match the Spotify Ads platform?

Cost metrics are reported in each ad account’s configured currency. When that currency differs from the workspace currency, Adriel converts the amounts using the current day’s exchange rate, so figures can differ from the raw values shown in the Spotify Ads platform. Small differences can also come from timing: newly recorded activity appears after the next sync rather than instantly. For the sync schedule, see the Spotify Ads data reference.

Common issues

Spotify’s getBusinesses API only returns businesses linked to the OAuth user. If nothing appears, the connected Spotify account is not linked to any businesses on Spotify Ads Manager.Connect using the same Spotify account used to log in at ads.spotify.com.
