Answers to the questions that come up most often when monitoring public TikTok creators in Adriel.

Do I need a TikTok login to connect this data source?

No. TikTok Public reads only publicly visible creator data, so it does not require a TikTok account, password, or OAuth authorization. The connection runs through a platform-managed proxy that Adriel maintains, and the creator being monitored is identified by a public profile URL or handle. This is what makes the connector suitable for tracking creators the account does not own, such as competitors, influencers, and brand-mention accounts. For paid campaign data on an owned TikTok Ads account, use the TikTok Ads data reference instead.

Can I monitor more than one creator with a single data source?

Yes. A single TikTok Public data source can track multiple handles, and each is refreshed together on the same schedule. The handle is the unit of monitoring: per-video metrics are fetched for the videos that resolve under each tracked handle, and creator statistics are captured per handle. Changes to the monitored handle list take effect on the next scheduled refresh. To compare creators side by side, add a Creator breakdown to the widget so each handle appears as its own row.

Why do I only see about 90 videos for a creator?

This is expected. Because of limits on the public TikTok source, at most 90 of a handle’s most recent public videos are fetched per refresh cycle, and per-video metrics are available only for those videos. Older videos beyond the most recent 90 are not retrieved. Creator-level statistics such as follower count, total likes, and video count still reflect the full public account, so a handle can show a video count higher than the number of individual videos available in a widget.

Why did my TikTok Public data source stop updating?

The most common cause is a change on the creator’s side. If a monitored creator switches the account to private or deletes it, the public source no longer returns new data and the metrics stop advancing. Data already captured stays queryable until the account becomes public again, at which point refreshes resume automatically. If the account is still public and the widget is otherwise configured correctly but data remains stale, the shared public source can occasionally throttle under heavy load; retrying later usually clears it, and if the problem persists, email support@adriel.com with the affected handle and dashboard URL.

Why did my data source break after the creator changed their handle?

A TikTok Public data source is bound to the exact handle it was created with. If the creator renames their account, the old handle no longer resolves, and the data source linked to it cannot recover on its own. The fix is to create a new TikTok Public data source using the creator’s current handle. Data captured under the previous handle is not carried over to the new data source.

Why can’t I see audience demographics or traffic sources?

TikTok Public exposes only what TikTok shows on the public web: per-video performance (views, likes, comments, shares), video metadata, and creator statistics such as followers, total likes, and video count. Audience demographics, traffic sources, and impression breakdowns are not part of public profile data, so they are not available through this connector. Those metrics come from a creator’s own analytics, which are accessible only for an account the account holder administers directly. See the TikTok Organic data reference.
