Why don’t my Vimeo delta totals add up to the lifetime numbers?

This is expected for any video that existed before the data source was connected. Vimeo’s API returns only lifetime (cumulative) totals — a snapshot of each value at the moment it is read — with no history of daily values. To build a daily time series, Adriel stores one lifetime snapshot per day and derives each delta metric as the day-over-day change between consecutive snapshots. Because daily history only begins on the connection date, a video published earlier already carries accumulated plays, likes, comments, and replies that were never broken out by day. Its first recorded delta is 0, and the sum of its deltas covers only the period since connection — so it will fall short of the lifetime total. Why did my older Vimeo videos import with no daily history?

Only lifetime values exist at the moment a video is first read, so there is no historical daily series to import. Adriel retrieves videos created within roughly the last 10 years at connection, but the daily play, like, comment, and reply history for each of those videos starts accumulating from the connection date forward — one snapshot per day. The longer the data source stays connected, the more daily history is stored. Channel-level data behaves the same way. A window of recent daily channel rows is backfilled at connection, but follower figures have no historical backfill of their own — only the daily snapshots captured since connection are retained.

Why is there no watch time or audience retention for Vimeo?

The Vimeo connector reports play, like, comment, and reply counts per video, plus channel-level follower and video counts. Watch time, audience retention, and finish or quartile completion rates are not available through the connector. For deeper viewing analytics on organic video, the YouTube Analytics data reference lists metrics such as minutes watched, average view duration, and audience retention. On Vimeo, play count is the available measure of viewership.

Why can’t I combine channel and video metrics in the same widget?

Vimeo data lives at two separate levels: the channel (the connected account) and individual videos. Channel metrics use the Channel breakdown and video metrics use the Video breakdown, and the two cannot be mixed in one query — a widget that requests channel-level and video-level fields together will return no data. To resolve it, split the reporting across two widgets: one grouped by Channel for follower and channel counts, and one grouped by Video for per-video plays and engagement.

Why did my Vimeo data source stop refreshing?

Vimeo access tokens are long-lived, but if one does expire the data source can no longer read from Vimeo, and metrics stop updating. Reconnecting the data source restores access. If the connection is healthy but a gap still appears in a daily chart — for example after a period when the snapshot could not be captured — the delta for that gap is estimated from the last available data point rather than measured, so a single day may look smoothed rather than exact.
