2026-08-05 — Breakdown addition
Ad Format Type splits reporting by the format an ad was served in. The new Ad Format Type breakdown segments performance by Google’s own ad format classification, so YouTube and Demand Gen spend can be compared across skippable in-stream, Shorts, in-feed, and the other formats instead of landing in one undifferentiated row. Google supports this segmentation for Video and Demand Gen campaigns only, and for assets only video assets are covered (AdFormatType reference). Formats that don’t support segmentation — experimental ones, for example — are grouped under Other, and Video TrueView for Action statistics arrive under Unsegmented. Google notes that both of those groupings may be recategorized as formats change, and advises against relying on them for long-term decisions (AdFormatType reference).
