Why is my Yelp ad spend showing up about 100 times too high?
Yelp reports ad cost in cents at the source. Adriel converts it to major currency units only when the data is grouped by the Program ID breakdown. Under a date breakdown (Daily, Weekly, Monthly) or with no breakdown, the value stays in cents, which makes it look roughly 100 times larger than expected. To read ad cost in major currency units, group the widget by Program ID. For a report that combines spend with time, keep in mind that the date-based views report the raw cents value. Why can’t I combine business and advertiser metrics in one widget?
Yelp exposes two metric families: business metrics (organic profile engagement) and advertiser metrics (paid program performance). The metrics available in a widget follow the breakdown applied to it.- A business breakdown (Business Name, Business Alias, or Business API ID) exposes business metrics only.
- The Program ID breakdown exposes advertiser metrics only.
- No breakdown or a time breakdown (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and so on) exposes both families together.
Why hasn’t my newly added business appeared yet?
Business listings and their associated advertising programs are discovered when the data source is connected and again on each refresh. A business added after the initial connection becomes available on the next refresh cycle rather than immediately. If a business still does not appear after a refresh, confirm it meets Yelp’s connection requirements below. For the refresh schedule, see the Yelp data reference. Why does connecting a Yelp business fail?
Connecting a Yelp business requires a valid API key and the 22-character Business API ID (or alias) provided by a Yelp representative. Beyond valid credentials, Yelp requires the business to have at least one review before it can be connected. A business with no reviews cannot be connected, and setup fails for that business. For the full connection walkthrough, see How to connect Yelp to Adriel. Why do all my advertising programs report the same currency?
A single currency is applied to the whole data source. When several advertising programs are associated with the connected businesses, the currency from the first program encountered is used for the data source as a whole. Programs that report a different currency are not tracked in a separate currency. For accounts that mix currencies across programs, this means all ad-cost figures are presented under one currency. Why are Rating, Reply Rate, or Median Response Time blank in weekly or monthly views?
Rating, Reply Rate, Median Response Time, and the organic and ad-driven page-view percentages are ratios rather than counts. They cannot be summed across days into a meaningful weekly or monthly total, so they are left blank under those time groupings. To read these values, use the Daily breakdown or view them without a time grouping. Count-based metrics such as page views, calls, and impressions aggregate normally across every time grouping.Related
