The notepad widget adds a rich-text block to a dashboard. Use it for section headers, dashboard context, team-facing annotations, or embedded screenshots — anything that isn’t data but adds narrative or structure to the report.

When to use a notepad

  • Section headers between widget groups.
  • Executive summaries at the top of a dashboard.
  • Client-facing explanations of what a metric or dashboard shows.
  • Screenshots or logos embedded inline with data widgets.

Add a notepad

Click + Add widget in the dashboard header and pick Notepad from the catalog. A blank notepad appears on the grid — resize and reposition it like any other widget.

Editing content

The notepad supports:
  • Rich text — headings, bold, italic, bullet lists, numbered lists, links.
  • Images — drag-and-drop or paste an image into the editor; images upload to Adriel and render inline.
Only one notepad can be in editing mode at a time on a dashboard. Clicking into a second notepad automatically closes the first. Changes save automatically when the notepad loses focus. A confirmation toast appears on save; if the save fails, an error toast appears.

Duplicating a notepad

When a notepad is duplicated, the original content is copied into the new notepad — including embedded images. The duplicated widget opens in editing mode automatically.

On shared or embedded dashboards

Notepad images embedded in a dashboard render correctly on:
  • Owner-viewed dashboards — images load directly from Adriel’s media store using the owner’s session.
  • Shared and embedded dashboards — images load via a signed token so viewers without direct Adriel access can still see them.
No configuration is needed — the sharing token handoff happens automatically.

Troubleshooting

Shared and embedded dashboards require a valid media token. If images load for the dashboard owner but not for shared viewers, contact support at support@adriel.com.
Confirm the network is connected and that the dashboard is in edit mode. A failed save shows a red toast; retry by clicking outside the notepad again.
Notepads render in report mode. If a notepad is missing from PDF export, confirm the widget is inside the dashboard grid area (not overlapping a page break).
