Why can’t I connect my personal Pinterest account?
Pinterest Organic reports on a Pinterest Business account. Personal (pinner) accounts are not supported for organic analytics, because the analytics Pinterest exposes through its API are only available for business accounts. To report on organic Pinterest performance, the account must be converted to, or already be, a Pinterest Business account before connecting. Converting a personal account to business is free and is done in Pinterest’s own settings. For the connection steps, see How to connect Pinterest Organic to Adriel. Why don’t my older pins have day-by-day history?
Pinterest provides pin performance as lifetime (cumulative) totals rather than day-by-day values. When the data source is first connected, Adriel retrieves the existing pin library with those lifetime totals, but there are no historical daily values to reconstruct from before that point. Daily figures are built by comparing each day’s lifetime snapshot against the previous one, so day-by-day history accumulates from the connection date forward. Pins that already existed at connection time show their lifetime totals immediately, while their daily breakdown only fills in for days after the source was connected. For the distinction between the two, see Delta vs lifetime metrics. Why did my follower count only start filling in after I connected?
Follower-type metrics, such as follower count, are captured as daily snapshots and have no historical backfill. Pinterest exposes only the current follower total, not a dated history, so Adriel records one snapshot per day from the connection date onward. The lifetime follower count reflects the account total at each snapshot, and the daily change (delta) is derived by comparing consecutive snapshots. The longer the data source stays connected, the longer the follower trend line becomes. Why did a pin’s numbers stop updating?
A pin’s metrics can stop changing when Pinterest no longer returns performance data for it through the API. This typically happens with pins that have been deleted, restricted, or otherwise made inaccessible on Pinterest, and with very old pins that the platform no longer tracks. In those cases the last known lifetime values remain on the dashboard, but no further daily change is recorded. Associated media (images or video) for such pins can also expire and stop loading. This is expected: metrics resume updating only while a pin stays accessible and tracked on Pinterest. Can I report on paid Pinterest campaigns here?
No. Pinterest Organic covers unpaid pin, board, and account performance only. Paid Pinterest advertising, such as promoted pins and campaign spend, comes from a separate data source. For campaign, ad group, and spend reporting, connect Pinterest Ads and see the Pinterest Ads FAQs. Organic and paid metrics can sit side by side on the same dashboard as two data sources.Related
