When to use a combo chart
- Comparing metrics with very different scales — for example, Spend and CTR, or Impressions and Conversion rate.
- Showing volume and efficiency together — bars for volume metrics and a line for efficiency, sharing the horizontal axis.
- Highlighting one metric as the trend and others as the baseline — pick Line for the trend metric and Bar for the reference metrics.
Configure a combo chart
Mandatory fields
1
Pick a data source
In the Data sources section, select the data source to include. Combo charts support both ad and non-ad data sources and can pull from a blended source.
2
Pick Y-axis 1
Click Edit on the Y-axis 1 field to open the picker panel. Pick up to 20 metrics to make available in the widget’s dropdown, reorder them if needed, and set the active one shown by default. New custom metrics can be created directly from the picker panel without leaving the chart widget. The active metric renders as a bar or line on its Y-axis. For every metric slot, two extra controls are available:
- Chart type — Bar or Line. Each metric can render as a bar or a line, independently.
- Axis alignment — L or R. Metrics aligned to the same side share a scale.
3
Pick Y-axis 2 and Y-axis 3 (optional)
Click Edit on the Y-axis 2 or Y-axis 3 field to open the picker panel. Pick up to 20 metrics to make available in the widget’s dropdown, reorder them if needed, and set the active one shown by default. The active metric renders as a bar or line on its Y-axis — for example, put Spend on Y-axis 1 as a bar aligned L, Impressions on Y-axis 2 as a bar aligned L (shares Spend’s scale), and CTR on Y-axis 3 as a line aligned R (its own smaller scale).Combo charts support up to 3 metrics total. Slots 2 and 3 default to None, each with its own chart type and axis alignment.
4
Set the Group by
Click Edit on the Group by field to open the picker panel. Pick up to 20 breakdowns to make available in the widget’s dropdown, reorder them if needed, and set the active one shown by default. New custom breakdowns can be created directly from the picker panel without leaving the chart widget. On a combo chart, the active breakdown acts as the horizontal axis — each unique value becomes one position along the axis, for example Group by Campaign name produces one position per campaign, with the selected metrics rendered as bars or lines above it.The Group by on a combo chart cannot be a date breakdown (Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year are not valid Group by choices here). For time-based comparisons of multiple metrics, use a column chart or line chart instead. To show a single aggregated result across the whole visible period, select the No grouping option.
Optional fields
- Widget filter — narrow the data feeding the widget. See Filters.
- Period — override the dashboard’s date range. See Date ranges.
- Hide metric value — hide items whose Ad Spend, Impressions, or Link Clicks meet a threshold. Two blocks are available: a preset “Value = 0” checkbox per metric, and a custom threshold block with an operator (default
≤) and value. Both can be combined. - Y-axis range — the left and right axes each default to Auto-scale. Turn off Auto-scale on either side to set a manual minimum and maximum for that axis independently.
- Data labels — show the metric value on each item. Off by default.
- Grid — toggle background gridlines.
- Chart controls — toggle whether Chart controls render on this widget. On by default.
Chart controls
Chart controls are toggled on or off per widget from the Chart controls switch in the widget settings panel. When off, Chart controls don’t render on the widget; when on, the dropdowns configured below appear on the widget. Some key settings can be updated directly from the widget header without opening the settings panel. The Chart controls on a combo chart expose:- Chart type — a switcher on the left of the widget header to change to another chart type.
- Y-axis 1, Y-axis 2, Y-axis 3 — swap any of the metric slots inline.
- Group by — change the horizontal-axis dimension inline.
Comparison mode
Combo charts do not render comparison values. Even when the Compare toggle is on, the combo chart draws only the primary window — no overlay for the comparison period. For a chart with comparison support, use a column chart, horizontal column chart, or line chart.Widget styling
Global widget style settings — font, border, background, and color themes — apply to every widget through the Dashboard style settings. On top of those, Combo chart widgets have style options unique to this widget type:- Color type — toggle between Solid and Gradient for the fill of the bar segments.
Troubleshooting
One of the metrics is invisible or way too small
One of the metrics is invisible or way too small
That metric shares a Y-axis with a much larger metric — its scale is being dominated. Move it to the other axis (change its Axis alignment), or turn off Auto-scale on that axis and set a manual range.
