Deactivating an account closes out the user profile and revokes access. Workspace data, dashboards, and connected data sources are preserved.

Before deactivating

If the account is the only admin on a workspace, deactivation is blocked. Promote another member to admin first — see Managing members & access.
1

Check for sole-admin status

Open SettingsMembers. If only one admin is listed, promote another member to admin before deactivating.
2

Note what's preserved

Workspace data (dashboards, data sources, members) stays intact. The account itself becomes inaccessible and the email address can’t be reused for a new signup.

Deactivate the account

1

Open Settings

Click the profile icon and choose Settings.
2

Go to the Account tab

Open the Account tab.
3

Click Deactivate this member

Click the Deactivate this member button.
4

Confirm

Accounts that signed up with a password must enter the current password. Accounts that signed up with Google, Apple, Meta, or SSO confirm without a password.
5

Complete deactivation

Deactivation is immediate. Any active session is signed out, and the next attempt to access the dashboard redirects to the sign-in page.

What happens after deactivation

  • The account record is soft-deleted: status changes to DELETED, the email address is reserved so it can’t be reused, and the OAuth identity (if any) is decoupled.
  • Workspace data, dashboards, widgets, and connected data sources remain intact — other members continue to see them.
  • Subscriptions to marketing communications are revoked.
  • Deactivation is immediate. Any active session is signed out, and the next attempt to access the dashboard redirects to the sign-in page.

Reactivating

To recover an account, contact support. Recovery is best-effort and depends on how long ago deactivation occurred.
